Professor Thanzama Lushai Appointed as BHDC Chairman

Professor Thanzama Lushai, a member of Lushai Indigenous Community from Bandarban has been appointed as the Chairman of Bandarban Hill District Council.

Professor Thanzama Lusai was born on September 7, 1948. He completed his BSc from Comilla Victoria College in 1968 and his MSc in Botany from Peshawar University in 1970.

He began his teaching career as a lecturer at Rangamati Government College in 1973. In 1981, he joined Bandarban Government College as an Assistant Professor. Subsequently, he served as an Associate Professor at Satkania Government College in 1991 and as the Vice Principal of Bandarban Government College in 1994. Later, he served as the Principal of Cox’s Bazar Government Women’s College from 2001 to 2004 before retiring.

Previously, He served as the Chairman of the Bandarban Hill District Council from July 15, 2007 to May 24, 2009.

Professor Lushai is expected to bring positive changes and development to the district. His appointment is seen as a significant milestone for the Lushai community, as it represents a step towards greater representation and empowerment. As Chairman, Professor Lushai will be responsible for overseeing various administrative and developmental activities within the Bandarban Hill District Council.
